چکیده

Prior successes in CPS, especially addressing hybrid discrete and continuous control, has led to advances in unmanned systems, embedded sensors, and network technologies. One area of application of these emerging technologies is emergency response. Consider that unmanned ground, aerial, and marine vehicles have already been used for disasters starting with the 9-11 World Trade Center collapse and including Hurricane Katrina, civil engineers have begun embedding RFID tags in structures that can be interrogated postdisaster, and numerous companies have entered the mobile ad hoc network market offering easily deployed field communications systems.

Future Research on Cyber-Physical Emergency Management Systems

Cyber-physical systems that include human beings and vehicles in a built environment, such as a building or a city, together with sensor networks and decision support systems have attracted much attention. In emergencies, which also include mobile searchers and rescuers, the interactions among civilians and the environment become much more diverse, and the complexity of the emergency response a...

A Fault-Tolerant Emergency-Aware Access Control Scheme for Cyber-Physical Systems

Access control is an issue of paramount importance in cyber-physical systems (CPS). In this paper, an access control scheme, namely FEAC, is presented for CPS. FEAC can not only provide the ability to control access to data in normal situations, but also adaptively assign emergency-role and permissions to specific subjects and inform subjects without explicit access requests to handle emergency...

On Exploiting Structured Human Interactions to Enhance Sensing Accuracy in Cyber-physical Systems

In this article, we describe a general methodology for enhancing sensing accuracy in cyber-physical systems that involve structured human interactions in noisy physical environment. We define structured human interactions as domain-specific workflow. A novel workflow-aware sensing model is proposed to jointly correct unreliable sensor data and keep track of states in a workflow. We also propose...

On Survivability of Mobile Cyber Physical Systems with Intrusion Detection

In this paper we address the survivability issue of amobile cyber physical system (MCPS) comprising sensor-carried human actors, vehicles, or robots assembled together for executing a specific mission in battlefield or emergency response situations. We develop a mathematical model to assess the survivability property of aMCPS subject to energy exhaustion and security failure. Our model-based an...

Challenges In Representing CPS Safety

This position paper describes the challenge of ensuring run-time safety in cyber-physical systems. The overarching problem is ensuring that computerbased systems will maintain safe operations even in the face of design-time and run-time faults. One way to address this problem is by creating an ability to perform run-time safety checks on CPS applications that can be used to record hazards, trig...
